Today’s models of Entrepreneurship and Incubation are quite established in supporting Awareness and Impact for specific causes. But if we look back at some of the social change makers in history like Gandhi, Mandela and MLK Jr., you’ll find the inclusion of a third element in the equation — Transformation. In fact, you could say that they worked at the intersection of all three aspects: Awareness, Impact and Transformation. What does it take to design for this ‘Sweet Spot’ between the three? What could the design look like in today’s modern context with abundant financial and technological capital? These are some of the questions we’d like to explore through the talk.

About Nipun Mehta: At the age of 25, Nipun quit his job to become a “full time volunteer.” He is the founder of ServiceSpace, an all volunteer-run organisation using technology to inspire greater volunteerism. What started as an experiment with friends is now a global ecosystem of over 400,000 members who have delivered millions of dollars in service for free. Their projects include DailyGood, KarmaTube, KindSpring and KarmaKitchen. Nipun has received the Jefferson Award for Public Service, the President’s Volunteer Service Award and Wavy Gravy’s Humanitarian award. He is routinely invited to share his message of “Giftivism” with a wide range of audiences and his speech at UPenn commencement was read by millions. He also serves on the advisory boards of the Seva Foundation, the Dalai Lama Foundation, and Greater Good Science Center.

About Siddharth Sthalekar: A graduate of IIM-Ahmedabad, Siddharth previously worked in the capital markets where he headed India’s largest equity derivatives trading desk and was a regular feature on television channels. However, a one-day visit to Gandhi Ashram ended up changing the entire course of his life and he is now focused on “Being the Change”. The last three years saw him volunteering at the Ashram - where he also coordinated Seva Cafe, a Gift Economy Restaurant in the heart of Ahmedabad. Various transformational moments have led him and a few others to initiate an incubator that facilitates designs for Generosity - known as Moved By Love. The collective intention is to support a cultural shift from consumption to contribution, transaction to trust, isolation to community and scarcity to abundance. There is no cost to attend. To join, simply RSVP below and we’ll send you a confirmation email with all the logistical details.
