About me:Khushboo Kantharia is a psychology student hailing from Surat, Gujarat. She has spent 5 years of her life in an organization for the homeless in Mumbai. Khushboo has personally experienced the difference between a family life and a monitored restricted environment of an orphanage. Her personal experience and difficulties inspired her to work for the teenage children who are living a institutionalized and bound life, ill equipped when they come out of it. Khushboo herself felt berft when she had to come out from the safe and restricted environment to the open environment. The gap was immense. A strong willed and determined young girl of 23 years, Khushboo decided to help others in similar situations. Thus, started the journey of “Disha”.

Venture DescriptionDisha aims at facilitating the process of development of youth and women to experience learning success. Disha supports unfortunate and vulnerable youth and women to acquire skills and resources, necessary to build a dignified life to acquire equal opportunities and status in society. Disha's objectives: Support the underprivileged youth, especially orphans and destitute with a firm foundation and entry into the formal system Enrich the orphan and destitute youth’s self-esteem to make it the substance of his/her integrated development Deliver life skill education platform to the orphan youth A support system for those orphan and destitute who are staying independently out in the formal system Work towards increasing government participation in the rehabilitation of orphans and destitute youth Work towards helping in mental stability of the orphan and destitute Work towards organization self-sustainability
